Dont take short cuts through the royal parks

I have spoken to a few drivers who have been fined for driving through regent’s and hyde park.I must confess that i have also done the same thing and gotten away with it.I wont be doing it again.Both drivers have been caught in the last month.From reading up on the subject it is the metropolitan police who patrol the parks.The principal parks are Hyde Park ,St James’s Park ,Regent’s Park ,Richmond Park ,Bushy Park and Greenwich Park.Their non emergency number is 0300 123 1212.
Dont think you can drive through with an unmarked van.The Met will assume you are a business.

Acts in a Park for which written permission is required
4. Unless the Secretary of State’s written permission has first been obtained, no person using a Park shall –
*** (27) drive or ride any vehicle which is constructed, adapted or in use for the purpose of a trade or business except as specified in Part I of Schedule 2 to these Regulations;
(28) drive or ride any vehicle on a Park road in excess of the speed specified in relation to that road in Part II of Schedule 2 to these Regulations;***
(29) tow or leave any caravan;
(30) unless in an emergency, cause any vehicle to wait, or leave any vehicle unattended, in a place other than one for the time being appointed for the parking of a vehicle of that description by the Secretary of State.

I have driven through richmond park with out getting a fine,maybe the sat navs should warn against it?

It happend to my also, I get £35 penalty. I think Sat Navs producent should pay for it:)

you got overcharged. its 30 quid.
and maybe less attention to the satnav, more to the signs at all the gates? just a thought.

I got a £30.00 fpn today for driving into Hyde park. Did not see the notice on the gates, followed the sat nav , wont do it again. The officer told me that i could be procecuted upto £2000 for this offence because i was in a van.
If you are not a regular driver in London it can be a real trap for the average motorist. The stress and pressure of the place causes you to miss stuff like those blessed notices on the gates etc.
Once bitten !
